1/4 C. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
4 T. heavy cream
4 T. butter
1 jar caramel sauce or to make your own go to 787, you’ll need about 8 oz.
Streusel topping
1/3 C. flour
3 T. white sugar
2 T. butter cut into small pieces
2 toffee bars crushed or ½ a bag of toffee chips
1/2 C. chopped pecans (optional)
What to do:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Prepare your pie crust and have that ready and waiting to the side or in the fridge.
Get your streusel topping ready. In medium size bowl combine flour, sugar, pecans and butter and stir in toffee chips. Set aside.
Combine dry ingredients for the filling in a medium size bowl and set aside.
In a large cooking pot mix apples, brown sugar and white sugar, and cook over medium for about 5 minutes making sure to stir so the apples won’t burn. Add in the vanilla, cream and butter again cooking for about 3 minutes. Lower the temper to low and add the dry ingredients and cook for about 5 minutes. Just make sure your apples aren’t getting to soft.
Fill your pie shell 1/3 and drizzle over some caramel sauce, add the other 1/3 and repeat until there is no more filling making sure to drizzle caramel sauce on every layer. Top with your streusel topping and somewhat pack down with your hands.
Bake 15 minutes and then reduce heat to 350 and bake 45 minutes longer, covering the edge of the crust with foil if it starts to brown too quickly. Have fun!!!!
