Serves: 2 crusts
Ingredients:
3 C. flour
1 stick of butter, keep cold and cut into pieces
3/4 C. butter flavor shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten well
5 T. cold water
1 T. distilled white vinegar
What to do:
In a large bowl mix together flour and salt, work the butter and butter flavored shortening into the flour using a pastry cutter or food processor until the mixture resembles tiny pebbles. In a small bowl combine the egg, water and white vinegar add this to your flour mixture and stir until just combined.
This recipe makes 2 crusts, but only 1 is used for the pie. Freeze the other crust until you need it, and then thaw for about 20 minutes before using. It will also keep in the fridge for about two weeks.
