If you need an easy, cheesy, budget friendly dinner recipe then you are really going to LOVE this! With football season starting up I thought this would be a great dish to pass around! These baked bean cheese hot dogs are wrapped in a blanket of warm French bread. An easy recipe to make ahead, double or make in an appetizer size!
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 25-30 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
1 tub of Pillsbury French Bread
4 hot dogs
4 slices of cheese, whichever flavor your family enjoys or 3/4 cup shredded cheese, divided 4 ways
1 large can of baked beans or 2 smaller cans (15.5 oz each), whichever flavor your family enjoys
1/4 C. melted butter
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Fresh or dried parsley
What to do:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Open your French bread and unroll, cut into 4 equal pieces. Lay down 1 slice of cheese in the middle of one of your dough pieces. Place your hot dog at the top of the dough piece and roll. Repeat for all 4 hot dogs. Gently press the seams of the dough down. Place rolled piggies in baking pan first (this will help them not to get so soggy), then spoon baked beans around the piggies. Brush with melted butter and scatter garlic powder, onion powder and parsley on top, bake for about 25 minutes covered with tin foil (so the tops don’t get burned) then uncover and cook again for another 10-15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown. Brush with remain butter and serve warm.
Christina’s Notes:
To make this ahead, bake the hot dogs in the dough first, without the chili. Then when you’re ready to serve, add the chili and bake for about 10-15 minutes or until everything is warm. To make into an appetizer size cut hot dogs in half, cut dough into 8 sections and cut all of the cheese slices in half….BOOM!
