Prep Time: 5 minutes
Serves: About 7 Cups
Ingredients:
6 C. all-purpose flour
1/4 C. baking powder
1 T. salt
1 C. vegetable shortening, butter flavored shortening or butter
What to do:
Food processor method: add all the ingredients but the shortening in a food processor bowl and give it a few pulses, just enough to combine the ingredients. Next, add in your shortening, pulse until the mixture resembles cornmeal or fine crumbs.
Pastry blender: add all the ingredients but the shortening in a bowl, mix to combine. Next, add in your shortening and cut it in using your pastry blender just until the mixture resembles cornmeal or fine crumbs.
Stand mixer or hand mixer: with the whisk attachment combine all the ingredients but the shortening. Next, add in your shortening and blend until the mixture resembles cornmeal or fine crumbs.
Christina’s Notes:
You can store baking mix in an airtight container for up to 6 weeks. If using butter, baking mix needs to be stored in the fridge or freezer so the butter won’t go rancid. If using shortening, it can be stored in a cool dry place.
