This homemade chocolate pudding recipe is so easy and delicious, you will never want to buy another boxed mix again! Also, if you have egg allergies or just don’t have eggs in your fridge and don’t want to run to town, this recipe is for you!
Prep: less then 5 minutes
Cook time: about 10 minutes
Serves: 4, about 1 cup each
Ingredients:
1 C. Sugar
1/3 C. Cornstarch
1/2 Tsp. Salt
4 C. Milk
2 T. Butter
2 to 3 T. Vanilla extract
What to do:
In a medium saucepan add all your ingredients and mix well. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture boils. Once it starts to boil, cook for about 2 to 3 minutes, stirring consistently . Cook until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and butter. Pour into serving dishes, pudding will thicken as it cools. Chill before serving!
Christina notes:
Just incase you have lumps, no worries!! You can pass the pudding through a fine mesh before cooling.
As the pudding cools, a film will form on top. If you don’t want the film, put a piece of plastic wrap directly on it’s surface (it has to touch the pudding to keep the air out). When you’re ready to eat it, remove the wrap and serve.
