I have always loved gravy, all types, they are all delicious!!!! Gravy can be one of the best parts of a dinner. It takes meals to a whole new level, adding that salty, rich, down to earth flavor!
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Serves: 8
Ingredients:
1/2 C. butter
1 tsp. Xanthan gum, you can use arrowroot also.
4 C. low sodium beef broth, divided
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
Juices from meat, optional (add a teaspoon or two of any meat juices)
Salt and pepper to taste
What to do:
Add your xanthan gum to 1 cup of broth in a separate bowl or cup, mix well making sure to get all the lumps out. Set aside.
In a sauté pan, melt butter over medium heat then add onion powder, garlic powder, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir them until fully combine. Add your 3 cups of broth and any meat juices you might have, bring to a simmer. Then add in the last cup of broth that has the Xanthan gum in it. Bring gravy to a simmer while whisking. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes while stirring occasionally until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
