Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10-15 minutes
Serves: 8-10
Ingredients:
1 Loaf crusty Italian or french bread about 1 lb
1/2 C. Softened butter
5 Cloves of garlic, minced or grated or 1 1/2 garlic powder
1 T Fresh parsley, finely chopped or 1 tsp. dried
1/4 tsp. Salt
Optional:
1/4 C. Parmesan cheese
1/2 C. Shredded mozzarella cheese
You can also use a combination of different cheeses that you like.
What to do:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F
Take a large baking sheet and cover it with parchment paper or foil. Then, slice the bread in half lengthwise and place it on the sheet, with the cut side facing up.
In a medium-sized bowl, mix the butter, garlic, parsley, salt, and Parmesan cheese (if you’re using it) together until it’s all blended well. Then, spread the mixture evenly over the bread.
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the top and edges are slightly golden brown. If you want to add the mozzarella cheese, add it during the last 2 minutes of baking. If you prefer crispier garlic bread, bake for an additional 3-5 minutes, keeping a close eye on it until it reaches your desired level of golden brown.
To achieve that golden brown goodness, turn the broiler on for the last minute of cooking to lightly brown the top. Stay close, as broilers can be unpredictable.
Let cool for 5 minutes, sprinkle with extra parsley if desired, slice, and serve immediately.
