A hearty pasta dish is always comforting, and this creamy sausage pasta is both delicious and satisfying. Picture a bowl of tender pasta coated in a rich cream sauce with juicy pieces of Italian sausage. It’s cheesy and perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or entertaining friends.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 4-6
Ingredients:
1 T. cooking oil
1 T. butter
1 small onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, chopped, or 2 tsp. garlic powder
1 lb. Ground sausage
1 1/2 tsp. of each: parsley, smoked paprika, thyme, oregano, and basil
Black pepper to taste
3 cups small pasta, like macaroni, orzo, ditalini, or orecchiette.
4 C. chicken broth, more if needed
2/3 C. heavy cream or half-and-half
1-2 C. Spinach, chopped
A big handful of grated Parmesan cheese; I use 1 C.
Parsley and pepper flakes to garnish.
What to do:
Place a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add your cooking oil and butter. Once melted, toss in your onion and cook until translucent. Then, add your garlic and cook until fragrant. Next, toss in your sausage and seasonings. Cook until the sausage is cooked through.
Next, add your pasta, chicken broth, cream, and spinach, then give it a good mix. Cover and add more broth if the pasta soaks it up. Just before the pasta is done, add your cheese and black pepper if needed, and mix until melted. Plate, garnish, and enjoy!
