Remember that one dish from your childhood that was just all-out comfort? For a lot of us, it was those rich, savory noodles that hit the spot. These super creamy Cafeteria Noodles were always a hit at school. They were popular at potlucks, too. If you were lucky, you enjoyed them at home with family. This isn’t just any recipe; it’s a total throwback and the ultimate comfort food!
Prep Time: 3 minutes, if that
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
12 Oz Egg Noodles
32 Oz Chicken Broth (low sodium)
2 teaspoons Chicken Bouillon or Better Than Bouillon
1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
Pepper to taste
½ stick or 4 T. of butter
Parsley for garnish (optional)
Add ins:
Cooked chicken, cooked hamburger, veggies, herbs, spices, etc.
What to do:
In a large pot with a lid, add the chicken broth and extra bouillon. Then add the pepper, butter, and soup (also any add-ins) over medium-high heat. Stir to combine, making sure the butter is melted and the add-in ingredients are warmed through.
Spread the egg noodles in the pot until they’re fully covered by liquid, adding more if necessary. Boil for two minutes, then cover the pot and turn off the heat, leaving it on the burner. Let it sit for 10 minutes to finish cooking. Finally, stir the noodles, garnish with parsley if desired, let them cool slightly, and enjoy.
